Why ‘Republic’
A republic belongs to everyone in it, not to whoever can afford the best seat. That’s the idea behind our name.
Tutor Republic isn’t built as an exclusive academy for families who already have every advantage; it’s built so that a TSC-accredited teacher, a real curriculum, and honest, structured feedback are available to a student in Kibera and a student in Karen, a child in Nairobi and a child in Wajir or Turkana, on the same standard. Every walk of life, one standard of teaching.
The Gap We Exist To Close.
Every year, close to a million Kenyan students sit the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. Of those students, only a small fraction ever go on to enter a university degree programme, not because they lack ability, but because the system between sitting an exam and starting a degree has never been built to carry them through.

The Honest Reading Of These Numbers.
Over the last four completed cohorts, 3,570,188 students sat KCSE. Of them, 611,716, roughly 17 in every 100, actually reached a university degree programme. The remaining 83% did not fail in any meaningful sense. They were simply not carried by a system built to serve only the top of the distribution.
The trend is genuinely improving, from 15.0% in 2021 to 20.2% in 2024, but even at its best, four out of every five students who sit this exam still do not reach university. That gap is the central fact of Kenyan secondary education, and the reason Tutor Republic exists.
A Moment Of Change In Kenyan Education.
Kenya’s secondary education system is in the middle of a significant transition, as the long-running 8-4-4 curriculum reaches its final graduating cohorts.
Whatever a family’s stage in that transition, our commitment stays the same: real teachers, real structure, and an honest account of where a student stands.
What Stands Between These Students & A Different Outcome.
The barrier is rarely ability. It’s access: to a properly accredited teacher, to structured preparation, to consistent feedback on where a student actually stands.
Private tutoring exists to fill this gap, but at KES 1,000 to 4,000 per hour depending on the tutor, delivered by an unverified individual with no curriculum and no accountability, it’s expensive, inconsistent, and available only to families who can already afford it.
At the same time, Kenya holds one of the largest pools of qualified, unemployed teaching talent in the region, over 340,000 registered teachers with no classroom to teach in, including more than 84,000 at the secondary level alone.
The capability to close this gap already exists. It has simply never been connected to the students who need it, on terms every family can actually access, which is why Lipa Pole Pole, evening and weekend classes, and a KES 2,000 registration fee are built into how we operate, not treated as afterthoughts.
Finishing School
With Nothing To Do Next.
Passing or failing is only half the problem. Even students who do everything right routinely leave secondary school having gained no practical, job-ready skills and no exposure to how a modern economy actually works.
Between finishing Form Four and hearing whether they have a university place, most students spend months with no structure, no income, and no development. Our Future Skills Academy and Skills Academy exist to turn that wait into preparation instead of idle time.
A Generation Losing Its Language.
Not every gap we exist to close happens inside Kenya. Over four million Kenyans now live abroad, and thousands of Kenyan children are born overseas every year.
These children grow up fluent in the language of the country that raised them, and increasingly unable to hold a conversation with their own grandmother.
Our Heritage Swahili Academy exists specifically to prevent that quiet loss.
Help That Isn't There When It's Needed Most.
Struggle rarely waits for a scheduled lesson. It arrives at eleven at night, the evening before a test, with no teacher left to ask.
The Vault is our answer to that moment, a growing library of videos where our own teachers solve the exact problems students get stuck on, available the instant it’s needed.
