Skills Academy.

Skill + How To Sell It.

Live online classes in thirteen real trade skills, taught by working professionals who do this for a living, in groups of 20 or fewer. Every course ends the same way: a real paying customer, M-Pesa receipt included.

Why This Programme Matters.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of young Kenyans finish school with no college placement and no job waiting. A lot of them already have real skills in their hands, sewing, braiding, baking, but never learned how to turn that into actual income.

Skills Academy exists for exactly this. Knowing how to braid and knowing how to get paid for it turn out to be two pretty different skills, so we teach both together in the same course.

Who This Is For.

Anyone who wants to earn with their hands. School leavers without a placement, adults looking for a real income stream, or anyone who already has some skill and wants to turn it into paying work. No academic prerequisites, no age limit, just a willingness to practice and show up.

How Classes Are Delivered.

Group Class: Max 20 Students

Two live sessions a week, 90 minutes each, taught by a working professional in that trade. You practice at home on your own starter kit and submit photo or video evidence before the next class.

Rate: KES 5,000 per month, or KES 15,000 for the full 12-week term

Starter Kit

Each skill has its own starter kit, roughly KES 2,000 to 4,500 depending on what you’re learning. We tell you exactly what to buy and where, no guessing involved. For Agribusiness specifically, the kit costs more than the course fee itself, that gets explained plainly at registration, with the payback shown.

What's Included With Every Skill.

  • A working professional teacher for every live lesson, someone who actually earns a living doing this trade
  • The Business Launch Accelerator in Week 8, free with every course: pricing your work, WhatsApp marketing, your first 20-contact announcement
  • A business starter pack at graduation: 100 printed business cards, invoice and quotation templates, a customer record sheet, and a one-page business dashboard
  • Full access to The Vault, including recorded guest masterclasses from working entrepreneurs
  • A free monthly Formalisation Clinic after graduation, for as long as you need it

How You Graduate.

Your final exam is refreshingly literal. You need a first paying customer, a real person who ordered your work and paid you, with the M-Pesa message to prove it. That’s when you earn your certificate.

Most students recover their course fees within their first 10 to 15 customers. Week 12 itself runs as a full launch week rather than an exam week, ending in Skills Market Day, a live showcase where you sell in public instead of walking across a stage.

Registration & Payment.

Registration costs KES 2,000, same as every other Tutor Republic programme, paid once. From there, it’s KES 5,000 a month, or KES 15,000 for the full term if you’d rather pay once and be done with it. Lipa Pole Pole gets you started from as little as KES 200 a day if neither of those work right now.

Not Sure If This Is The Right Fit?

Future Skills Academy is a fixed holiday programme built for the gap between Form 4 and university, covering digital skills, entrepreneurship, and AI tools over a 3 to 5 week block. Skills Academy runs longer, 12 weeks, stays open to anyone at any life stage, and takes you all the way through a hands-on trade to your first real sale.

Frequently Asked Questions.

No, most students start from zero. The first four weeks cover foundations before you touch anything client facing.

You still receive a Letter of Completion and get a 4-week grace window to close your first sale and upgrade to the full certificate.

No, the starter kit is a separate cost, roughly KES 2,000 to 4,500 depending on the skill, since materials differ a lot between something like Baking and something like Digital Marketing.

Yes, plenty of graduates come back for a second one. Each skill runs as its own 12-week course.

You’ll have picked a second-choice skill at registration; if your first choice can’t run that term, we automatically move you into your second choice so you don’t lose your spot.
